Yeah, that's probably the underlying reason. We’re thrilled to announce a new release of Plexamp with a bunch of updates and fixes. I guess it's only an issue if I want to transcode my FLAC to 320, because the maximum it would ever do is 256. Which mean there's no point having 320 as an option under Conversion Bitrate. Maybe I'm just thinking about all this because the majority of my collection is FLAC, and transcoding always has to happen if I set things to anything lower than Maximum? Because let's say I was playing an MP3 file instead (maximum is 320? Is that right?) then no conversion would have to take place if my Music Quality = 320. Why give Cellular the option of 320, when it is overridden by the other setting that has a maximum of 256? Playing the same FLAC file shows it as Opus 256, which shows the Conversion Bitrate takes priority over the Music Quality Bitrate. Option 2: Cellular = 320, Conversion Bitrate = 256Īt this point, I'm expecting to see some form of transcoding, as FLAC is lossless, whereas my 320 setting means something has to be discarded now instead. This is what I was expecting because I'd set Cellular to Maximum. Playing a FLAC file plays it natively - Plexamp shows FLAC codec, 16/44. Option 1: Cellular = Maximum, Conversion Bitrate = 256 (the highest option I can choose). I've just tried the following on my phone (using Cellular): You could be right there, although I'm still a llittle confused because:
